Trend Alert: The Long Coat (Winter 15/16 Runway)

Jackets are out for Winter 2016 and long coats are in, long to the ankles. I love long coats and I have seen them all over the place. On social media, in beautiful editorial shoots and some on the streets of Toronto. There is a large variety of styles and colours. Here are some gorgeous ones taken from the Winter 15/16 runway:

Stella Jean
Valentino
Fausto Puglisi / Stella Jean / Zac Posen
Since the cold doesn't seem to be lighting up (and I was prepared to take out some spring clothes) I though I would compile a list of stand out styles for those who have yet to invest in a winter jacket, like me, and who thought the cold weather wasn't going to come this winter. Of course the list includes coats for the budget conscious:

Asos ($152)
Autograph ($246)
Carven ($1000)
Missguided ($102)
Arethe Stockholm ($310)
Asos ($192)

Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Trend : Accordion Pleated A-Line Skirt

A trend that took the Spring Summer 2016 runway by storm was the, a-line accordion pleated mid-calf skirt. Yes, a very specific style, but a very beautiful and elegant one. This is a trend I have kept an eye on since looking at the runways, and I can't wait for spring to fill my closet up with them! Some runway stand outs were:

Gucci Resort SS16 via WGSN

Carolina Herrera SS16 via WGSN
Gucci SS16 via WGSN

Of course I have chosen some pieces that are on the market now and are transferable into spring as well as at an affordable price:

Malene Birger ($200)
DKNYC ($90)
Chuu ($62)

Top 5 Liquid Lipstick Brands

Liquid lipstick is one of the biggest beauty trends, and I am in love! Liquid lipsticks are luxurious products that took everyone by storm in 2015. And they just seem to get bigger and bigger. So I decided to do some research on the biggest liquid lipstick of 2015 and seeing what they have to offer.

1. Jeffree Starr Cosmetics

Jeffree Starr is on top of the liquid lipstick game! His Velour Liquid Lipsticks are high-quality, with a wide range of colours and a fair price. I personally have not had the chance to use a Velour Liquid Lipstick, but trust me when I have a little bit of change in my pocket I will definitely be purchasing A LOT.

Celebrity Skin ($18)
Jawbreaker ($18)

2. Anastasia Beverly Hills

Anastasia Beverly Hills is an extremely popular brand mainly known for their spectacular eye brow products. But they also hopped on the liquid lipstick trend when it started arising. Although the lipstick are very beautiful the colour range is very small and the price is high.

American Doll ($26)

3. Dose Of Colour

Dose Cosmetics is one liquid lipstick brand that has an arrange of beautiful colours.

Mood ($18)
Purple Rain ($18)

4. Lime Crime

For me Lime Crime was the first brand I noticed doing the liquid lipstick trend. And I love their range of colours and their aesthetic. However the brand has had a bad rep in the past. But I will say that I personally have never had a bad experience shopping with Lime Crime.

Squash ($20)
Trouble ($20)

5. Kylie Jenner Lip Kit

Everyone knows who Kylie Jenner is. She is mainly famous, not only for her name, but her lips. Even though Kylie Jenner has lip fillers, we have to admit that her nude lip colours are always amazing. Kylie Jenner came out with 3 liquid lipstick shades that neutral tones. However her stalk never seems to last longer than 30 seconds on her website. There are some available or re-sell websites like eBay, but those will break the bank.

Dolce K, Candy K, True Brown k ($29)

5 Ways to Look Chic is the Freezing Cold

Staying warm in the Winter can lead to some pretty unfashionable choices. I know that I tend to go for what is cozy, which is usually something frumpy. But staying fashionable everyday is a goal I strive for and has probably been my news years resolution since I was 14.

So I decided to create a small guide to help you stay fashionable during the cold winter season, without breaking the bank. The pieces I choose are pieces you would where on a daily basis and may already own in the winter, but that have added flare and style to them. So without further a do, 5 ways to look chic in the freezing cold!

Trend Alert : Embroidered Jeans

Trend Alert : One of the cutest trends is here, and it's definitely inspired by the 70s. Embroidered jeans! I've recently been noticing this trend becoming increasingly more popular and decided that this trend might just blow up.

Everyone likes to hop on the newest trends, especially when they are still a little hush-hush. So i decided to share this new found trend, that I am OBSESSED with!

Here are some of the higher end and designer brands doing their thing on these jeans:

Stella McCartney ($795)
Dolce & Gabbana ($2,730)

Good For Nothing ($1162)

Sadly smaller and cheaper brands have yet to catch onto this trend and create some amazing jeans. No need to fret! I will be checking online everyday and keeping my eye out until I find some embroidered jeans that won't max out your credit card.

Trend Alert : Fur Top Beanie

Even if a trend wasn't seen at the beginning of the season it doesn't mean new ones won't come and go. Walking around the city of Toronto and scrolling through Instagram fashion pages I started noticing that a lot of girls were wearing the same hat. A knitted beanie with a fun furry pom-pom on top!

I finally apporoached one of the girls, with the need to know where she got her hat. Rudsak.

Rudsak ($65)

It is a VERY cute hat, but $65 can seem like much for such a small thing. Although I have seen the same style upwards of $400! So I did my very best to find a cheaper version for anyone who is cost effective or on a budget.

Top Shop ($29)

Yoinsa ($9)
In case you were wondering what the designer ones were like:

Loro Piana ($1,061)

Spring/Summer 2016 Runway Trend: The Bomber Jacket

One of the top trends for Spring 2016 is the bomber jacket. A classic look with innovated style.

Almost every designer included an original looking bomber jacket on their cat walk. Including colour blocked, shiny, oversized, embroidered and embellished styles.

     Some stand outs were:

Elie Saab SS16 Via WGSN

This bomber jacket by Elie Saab is colour blocked and edgy. Using 3 top colours for spring, Rose Quartz, Fiesty and Snorkle. This jacket would best suit those with hourglass, rectangle and triangle figures.

Versace SS16 via WGSN

This bomber jacket by Versace sticks closer to the classic style. This olive shade would look amazing paired with one of Spring's it colours Rose Quartz. This jacket would best fit those of an oval or diamond shape.

Iceberg SS16 via WGSN

This monochromatic bomber jacket by Iceberg utilizes one of Spring's it colours Serenity. I love the giant bellow pockets, a great addition to the bomber jacket. This jacket would best fit those of an inverted triangle body shape.

Sadly these brands are a little over budget for many of us. But not to worry! I've found some bomber jackets at a more reasonable price and are transitional to spring (considering most spring lines have yet to be realeased). Best yet if you are patient enough to wait a little while longer these items will be on sale in no time!

Boohoo ($70)

This bomber jacket is by BooHoo and is similar in style and colour to the jacket by Iceberg. However this jacket is best suited for those with a inverted triangle or rectangle body shape.

Asos ($50)

This bomber jacket by Asos is in that amazing olive shade. And like I mentioned before would look magnificent with on of Springs it colours, Rose Quartz. This jacket would look best on those with an inverted triangle and hourglass body shape.

Missguided ($68)
This bomber jacket by Missguided is a maginifent style and colour, an almost faded grey-lilac, which is in for spring! This jacket is best suited for those with a oval and diamond body shape.

Sadly there is yet to an amazing colour blocked bomber jacket like Ellie Saab's but I will keep my eye out because I want one! When the spring lines are being realeased I will do an updated post with bomber jackets from Spring lines.
